IPSY GLAM BAG MAY2015 "JETSETTER"

Here is what I received in my IPSY glam bag this month.
In case you are unfamiliar, IPSY is a monthly subscription service that lets you try out various deluxe size samples of beauty products. You take a quiz answering various questions (skin type, hair type, color preferences) and they custom make a bag for you. It is $10/month and you may cancel at any time. They also offer coupons codes so may purchase the full size product at a discount rate. Click HERE to subscribe today.

Let's just talk about this bag for a moment. Usually I don't like too many of the bags my things come in, but this one is absolutely adorable.  I mean, who doesn't love a makeup bag with lipstick, mascara, and makeup brushes on it?!?  This is from a brand called Break up to Makeup. They sell various makeup bags with all different sayings on them. Use the code IPSY20 to receive 20% off any purchase. Coupon code good until 6/30/2015

A girl can never have too many makeup brushes. I love receiving them in my bag because it gives me a chance to try out different brands I may not normally gravitate towards. This brush is from a brand called LUXIE. It is their 205 Tapered Blending brush. It is fluffy and rounded at the top and extremely soft. Use the code ipsy30 to receive 30% off. Offer good thru 6/30/15

This next thing is from Urban decay. I got two samples of their Revolution Highcolor Lipgloss in Bittersweet and Failbait. Along with that I also received 24/7 Glide-on pencil in the color Ozone. This is a clear lip primer to help the longevity of your lipstick/gloss and also to help prevent feathering.

This is a gel eyeliner from the brand Bellápierre. It is in the color NO.02 EBONY. It is extremely creamy and glides on with ease. Not the blackest liner I've ever used but it is nice. Completely budge proof when it sets. Use code IPSYMAY2015 for 15% any purchase. Offer good thru 6/30/15.

I also received the NUXE face cleansing and makeup removing gel. It is supposed to soothe and soften as you use it. It has a slight honey smell and is quite liquidy. Use code PARIS2015 for 20% off orders $50 or more. Offer good thru 6/30/15.

Last but not least is theBARE REPUBLIC natural mineral sunscreen. SPF 30. It is a chemically free sunscreen that is water resistant for up to 40 minutes. It doesn't have the typical "sunscreen" smell. It smells like coconuts. I would definitely try this one out because it doesn't have the horrible sunscreen smell. Use code IPSY2015 for free shipping.

Overall I was pretty impressed with this month's glam bag. My favorite thing was definitely the makeup bag. With the urban decay lip pencil coming in close second. I look forward to trying these items out further. What did you receive in your glam bag? Share it with me down in the comments!!

Xoxo

REVIEW: ULTA DEMI-MATTE FOUNDATION

1fl oz, $12.50
ULTA describes this as a "Light weight, cream gel formula that absorbs oils and prevents shine. Light diffusing pigments help to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. "

PACKAGING
This product comes in a sleek black plastic tube with a color window so you can see what color you are purchasing. Unlike a lot of foundations on the market, this one comes with a pump for controlled
dispersion. No need to buy an aftermarket pump, and no wasted product or messy spills. The tube is
squeezable so it's possible to remove all the product once you are down to the last little bit. The only
downfall of the packaging is the color name is only on a sticker located on the back of the packaging.
The sticker is very easily removed, so if you lose it, you will not know what color your foundation is
anymore.

FORMULA/CONSISTENCY
The consistency of this product is quite thick. I was expecting it to be somewhere in the middle of a liquid and a mousse. It is definitely more on the side of a thick mousse. The texture is very similar to that of the REVLON color stay whipped foundation. It also has a very similar smell as well.

APPLICATION
When I test a new foundation out, I usually try 3 different application methods to see the best application method. I first tried with my Beauty Blender. It was easy to move the product around and it blended evenly and pretty seamlessly. Since it is a bit thicker, the beauty blender didn't really soak up too much of the product. This would be my method of choice for his particular product.  Next I
tried using a synthetic flat top kabuki brush. I found with this method I had to use a lot more product to get an even coverage on my face and even with ample blending time, you could still see brush stokes. The last and least favorite way to apply any foundation was my fingers. The warmth of your fingers help "melt" the product into your face for a very smooth even application. I choose not to use this method because I feel it makes my face get oily a lot quicker than normal.

COVERAGE/FINISH
I would say this product has a solid light coverage. It is buildable up to a medium coverage. I have some redness and small veins around my nose and the tops of my cheeks and this product didn't cover  any of that up. It was still very visible. It didn't do a very good job covering any blemishes or dark areas of your face either. I needed a separate concealer for that. It does not feel heavy on the skin and looks like skin while you wear it. It didn't settle in any of my fine lines or wrinkles throughout the day, but I did notice it accentuated the larger pores on the sides of my nose. Even though it is a demi matte foundation, I felt as it never fully dried and it was very tacky to the touch. So I had to set it with
a powder.

STAYING POWER
I used this product both with and without a primer. With a primer, I got about 4 solid hours of good wear. Without a primer I got about 2.5-3 hours. After about two hours of wear my face started to get oily. Normally with a matte or demi matte foundation, I can get at least a solid 6 hours shine free before a touch up. This foundation just seemed to make my combo skin way more oily than it would be on its own. It definitely didn't help to control oil or shine. The more I tried to touch up, the more Product rubbed off. The parts I didn't touch up did wear off evenly and not splotchy.

SHADE RANGE
The shade range in this line is horrible. There is only a total of 8 shades. It is geared more towards fair to light medium skin tones. If you are a solid medium or darker, there is probably not a shade that Is going to match you. The one good thing is that they seem to have a yellow under tone to them. I find a lot of drugstore foundations have a pink undertone.

I was very unimpressed with this foundation. It had poor shade range, staying power, and coverage. It kept me oily for most of the time I had it on and hid none of my imperfections. The only thing I liked was the packaging and the pump.
